Food: Baking bread!

I grew up on home baked bread, my dad has baked for as long as I can remember, and luckily the interest is something me and my both sisters inherited. What I really like about this dough, is how versatile it is, sometimes I save half of the dough for naan or pizza.

It’s really nice to just wrap up a few balls in plastic wrap and keep in the freezer, you never know when you might need it!

So, this is what you need:
1 pkt of yeast (in Sweden they are sold in 50g, in Czech Republic 42g, both work.)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp olive oil
1/2-1 tsp sugar (kicks the rising up a gear)

5 dl water
12-13 dl flour

Crumble up the yeast in a big mixing bowl, add the salt, stir a little so that the salt covers the yeast, as soon as it is melted, add the oil and sugar. Stir.

Pour in the water, lukewarm and stir before adding the flour. Make sure you don’t pack the flour too tight, keep the air in it! Once you can’t stir any more, use your hands! Add more flour if it’s too sticky.

Let it rise under a towel for about 40 min – 1 hr.
Bake it out as rolls, a loaf or any way you’d like. Let rise for another 45 min under a towel on a baking pan. Don’t forget the baking paper under!

Then it’s time for baking, turn the oven on for 200 degrees and bake according to what you have in there, ca 20 mins for rolls, a loaf might need 40 min.

These are best eaten fresh from the oven! Another tip – keep out only what you’ll eat the next few days, throw the rest in a zip lock and keep in the freezer.

Enjoy and please share if you used the recipe, I’d love to hear!

Hello and welcome to cut and sew – the blog! The idea if this blog is something that’s been with me for a long time, and my plan is that it will be part of a bigger thing, conducting of 3 things, see it as a big pie and this blog is 1/3 of it…The two other parts I hope will be out there during 2013.

So what is this blog all about then? Well, my name is Stella, and ever since I was little I’ve been creating things. I would build little houses and random constructions out of paper and tape, sew clothes and accessories of various kinds, make necklaces etc etc… So, regardless where I’ve been in my life, I’ve always created. This blog will be a mix of things, but DIY, design, fashion, interior and traveling will be the main base. I really hope you will like it!
